Gary Earnest Smith paintings displayed at Eastern Oregon Museum!

Crossroads Arts Center graciously lent us two Gary Earnest Smith paintings to celebrate the “Towards Home: The Art of Gary Earnest Smith” exhibition.

These original art pieces show the true nature of our beautiful Eastern Oregon setting. Gary was raised in Eastern Oregon and came to love the scenes of never-ending nature, ranching, and cowboy activities. “Smith’s work produces a timeless representation of the ever-changing lifestyle experienced by the West” (from the Crossroads website).

We were truly honored to have these special paintings during the months of June and July. A catalog of Gary’s work is available to purchase at the museum.

Eastern Oregon Museum Celebrates the 4th of July!

We had more than 70 visitors for the 4th of July this year. It’s so fun to hear voices and see visitors throughout our building and hear the wonderful comments about our displays. Thank you, all, for taking time to come see us. The museum has long been a partner in the Haines 4^th of July Old Fashioned Celebration. It was an honor to celebrate our nation’s birthday with so many wonderful local families and their guests.

2023 Youth Camp A Hit

In June, more than 40 campers showed up each day for a week in early June ready to learn about our local history. The EO Museum will again host its popular youth history camp in 2024.
